Objective of Employment Department

Employment wing under the Department of Skill Development and Employment strives to connect the jobseekers with the employers. The youth register themselves with the Employment Exchanges based ion their educational Qualification and experiences based on which the department makes effort to match their potential with the requirement of the employers.

At present 23 employment exchange are functioning in the State which includes 3 Regional Employment Exchanges, 10 District Employment Exchanges, 5 Town Employment Exchanges and 4 University bureau and 1 Special Employment Exchange for the Scheduled Tribes. These Employment Exchanges are governed by the National Employment Service Manual rules laid down by the Government of India while the daily administration of these exchanges is under the State Government.

The Network of Employment Exchanges carries out the following functions.    

• The major objectives of this wing is to provide Training to the youths in Uttarakhand State.
• Collect comprehensive Employment Market information on a quarterly basis for creation of data base for use in effective management of the demand and supply for workforce, preparing career literature for counseling and vocational guidance.
• Helping youth make informed career choices by organizing Career Counselling sessions/Career talks .
• For Enhancement of Employability of candidates from weaker section of society( schedule caste, schedule Tribe caste and Backward caste) department is running 16 Coaching Cum Guidance Centre in which training of Hindi typing, Hindi shorthand, General knowledge, secretarial practice, general math’s as well as coaching for Group-C Exams is imparted.
