ITI Srinagar was established in 1958 with an objective of imparting skills in various vocational trades to meet the skilled manpower requirement of industry. ITI Srinagar is situated at NH 07. Srinagar Garhwal is well known and famous for being education hub. Also it is famous for imparting technical education in all aspects because NIT, Engineering College Chauras Campus and Polytechnic are situated here. There are 12 (Twelve) different trades of Engineering & Non-Engineering field, of one or two year’s duration.
The courses are affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), through the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Government of India in the Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship, New Delhi. Two SCVT trade are also running here.
ITI building and land is badly destroyed due to disaster dated 16, 17 June 2013 and at present the ITI is running at the building of nearby JD office & ITI lower bazaar Srinagar. Own building construction work is proposed to be done by NABARD. Also this institute is covered under the UKWDP project of World Bank.

Trade wise power and backup power requirement for all the workshops are as below:
Available Power as per Electric Bill – 30 KW
Available Backup power – 5 KW
Library– More than 250 books of NIMI pattern for all the trades are available in library and being used by instructors
trainees.
Computer Lab-A well equipped computer lab is available having 18 computer systems. This lab is being used by all the trainees for IT literacy purpose.
CAD Lab– A well equipped CAD lab having 05 computer systems, 01 server, 01 projector, 01 plotter and 01 scanner is
available.
Sports-Ground is available for sports such as cricket, badminton, volleyball etc.
